The Office of Professional Responsibility conducts investigations of complaints against deputies, primarily from citizens who have had an unsatisfactory or unpleasant experience with a deputy. Most of the complaints are minor in nature, but this section does have the power to investigate more serious allegations.
The entire process is designed to discover the truth, being as fair as possible, while protecting the rights of everyone involved. Substantiated allegations are dealt with in accordance with the policies of the RCSO and state and federal laws. Complainants may be prosecuted if they file false complaints.
To file a complaint against an officer, citizens may contact the Office of Professional Responsibility at (615) 898-7777 (use the phone tree and add option #) or fill out the Citizens Complaint Form. You may also request a Citizen Complaint Form by mail, picked up at the RCSO located at 940 New Salem Hwy. Murfreesboro, TN 37129, or citizens may download the form.
